Jerrold Lewis Nadler is an American lawyer and politician serving as the U. S. representative for New York’s 10th congressional district since 2013. Jerry grappled for years because he was so overweight that he could not even ascend a single flight of stairs to the second floor of the Capitol to vote and only used the elevator.

“I can’t tell you how many people, complete strangers have come up to me and said, ‘congressman, you’re doing a great job, and I want you to continue to be my congressman, so you have to lose weight’,” Jerry told the New York times. “Imagine how that makes you feel.”

How did Jerry Lose Weight?

Jerry tried several times to change his lifestyle to a healthy one to lose weight but his futile attempt to get rid of his weight did not succeed. His health was suffering more and more because of his weight issues. Jerry had to take severe actions because of his health.

In August 2002, Jerry Had stomach reduction surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan. Before the surgery, Jerry weighed 338 pounds. And after the surgery, Jerry who is 55 years old has proceeded to lose pounds and has lost 61 pounds in the process.

He was so overweight that he had given up riding the subway to prevent climbing up and down the stairs. But after the surgery, he surprised himself by walking 40 blocks from his district office in lower Manhattan to Penn Station. In the past, he would avoid even walking a few blocks so it’s very impressive.

Jerry said he took this drastic action because he realized that his life depended on it. “I want to live to see my grandchildren grow up,” he said. “How many grossly overweight 80-year-olds do you know?”

Jerry Nadler Diet Regimen:

Jerry had to change his eating habits drastically because if he would eat too much, he feels awfully uncomfortable. Before the surgery, Jerry would usually consume a salad, a bowl of onion soup, a 14-ounce rib-eye steak with French fries, vegetables, bread, and butter, and a dessert all washed down with diet and coke. He would also constantly snack on Oreo cookies, Fig Newtons, Frankfurters, and even tuna salad and chicken salad sandwiches.

“I’d be constantly noshing in the cloakroom,” he said.

Now Jerry only order a four-ounce steak sandwich, discard the Kaiser roll and eat only three quarters of the meat. He will only have vegetables if he has room and skips dessert and drink. He has also given up snacks. “Snacks are out,” he said “What I do now is munch on ice cubes.”

His usual breakfast was tuna fish or chicken salad sandwich with tomatoes and mayonnaise is now completely out of the question. So, he has switched to a completely healthy one.

Obesity has become one of the major problems confronted by many of us nowadays. It does not only have an impact on our look or body shape but it also affects our health. Jerry decision for his weight loss surgery was not very ideal because of its risk but he had to take some drastic action because his health was suffering.
